This article provides you with an overview of the user group functionality within your reev platform. Please note that this functionality is only available with the reev Platform Pro license. With the reev Compact license, there are no user groups, and users are invited directly to charge.
What is a User Group?
User groups are the core of the reev Pro platform. They allow you to enable specific use cases and group users who should charge under the same conditions.
After creating a user group, you have the option to invite users to the group. These users will then be allowed to charge under the conditions defined within the user group.
To create a new user group, click Create a new user group at the top of the screen within the User Groups menu item.
User Types
We differentiate between returning users and short term users.
Returning users are individuals who charge regularly at your charging infrastructure, making it worthwhile to add them to the system once (e.g., pool vehicles, company cars, employees, etc.).
Short term users are individuals who may only charge at your infrastructure once. It is not worthwhile to add them to the system as users; however, you still want to enable them to charge easily and conveniently (e.g., guests, customers, etc.).
Furthermore, for both user types, you have the option to either automatically bill charging sessions through the reev platform or simply record them. These records can be exported and further processed internally at any time if needed.
Use Cases
The various use cases that can be mapped by creating user groups are explained below.
Note: Apart from the eRoaming user group, you can create as many user groups per type as you wish.
User Group Name | Use Case | Explanation |
Documentation or automatic billing of charging sessions for returning users | Returning users are invited to charge at your infrastructure. You can decide whether you only want to record the users' consumption for internal processing or bill them automatically via the reev platform (e.g., employees, tenants, pool vehicles, company cars, etc.).
Adding charging cards and documenting charging sessions | Short term users who are neither created in the reev platform nor automatically billed (e.g., guests).
Automatic billing of spontaneous charging sessions | Short term users who are not created in the reev platform but should be automatically billed (e.g., guests, customers).
Billing of public charging sessions via the eRoaming network | Users who you want to allow to charge at your infrastructure via the eRoaming network. |
This article explains the Drivers and Vehicles user group and how to set up this user group.
