This article explains how to set up the internet connection of the ABL eMH2 and eMH3 models via LAN/Ethernet.
Preparation for LAN connection
For setting up the LAN data connection, please prepare the following:
Admin access to the local network router
Laptop with an Ethernet port
Ethernet cable (RJ45)
SBC with the latest software. You can find instructions on how to update the SBC firmware to the latest version here.
Setting up the connection
Please follow these steps:
Disconnect the LTE stick from the USB port on the cabinet door, as it prevents a LAN connection if left plugged in.
Access the local user interface of the controller charging station. Guide: ABL - Accessing the SBC Web User Interface
Check whether our OCPP server URL is already entered under “Connectivity → OCPP.”
OCPP version: 1.6
URL: abl.reev.com
In the local user interface, click on "Connectivity" → "LAN".
Here you can set whether the wallbox should obtain its IP address via a local DHCP server or whether you would like to assign it manually.
For manual assignment, uncheck DHCP and click Save. The fields for manual entry will then be displayed.
Click on the "Connectivity" → "Mobile" tab and delete all data for the mobile access point (APN), if available. Then save the settings!
Then go to the "Maintenance" → "System" tab and, in the “System Restart” section, click the “Hard Reset” button.
Your charging infrastructure will now automatically restart with the selected settings.
Unplug the Ethernet cable from your laptop and connect it to your router.
The security settings of your router must be configured so that communication between the charging station and the OCPP backend is possible. If anything is unclear, please consult your IT administrator.
The backend connection uses port 443, and the wallbox must be able to perform DNS name resolution (this is usually enabled by default and only needs to be considered with strict firewall settings/monitoring).
Finally, you can check the connectivity in the web interface under “Overview → Monitoring.” You can now access the administration interface of the controller wallbox via the IP address assigned within your network.
