This article describes how to access the web interface of the SBC (Single Board Computer) of an ABL charging station to perform a local diagnosis of the charge points.
Prerequisites
The following prerequisites must be met before you begin the diagnosis:
You have a laptop with an Ethernet port (RJ45) or a suitable adapter.
An RJ45 patch cable is available.
You have physical access to the controller charging station.
An up-to-date web browser is installed on your laptop.
Step-by-step instructions
Follow the steps below to access the SBC web interface.
Connect your laptop to the SBC
Open the controller charging station and locate the RJ45 port on the SBC.
Connect your laptop to the LAN interface of the SBC using an RJ45 patch cable.
Note: The position of the RJ45 port varies depending on the charging station model. Refer to the following information:
ABL eMH3:
ABL eMH2:
ABL eMC2 / ABL eMC3: The SBC with the RJ45 port is located in the yellow-highlighted area of the charging pole.
Access the web interface
Open a web browser on your laptop.
Enter the following default IP address in the address bar: http://169.254.1.1:8300/
The SBC web interface should now open.
Tip: If the charging station is already connected to a local network and your laptop is on the same network, you can also access the web interface using the charging station's IP address with port 8300 (e.g. 192.168.X.X:8300).
Note: If the page cannot be loaded, adjust the network settings on your laptop. Follow the instructions in the section "Adjust adapter and network settings".
Adjust adapter and network settings
Adjusting the local network settings is only required if access via the default IP address did not work or if your laptop is simultaneously connected to another network (e.g. via Wi-Fi).
The following settings must be configured in the network settings of your laptop:
IP address: 169.254.1.8 (the last digit can vary between 2 and 254 but must not be 1)
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Note: The exact steps for adjusting the network settings depend on your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux). After making the changes, repeat the step "Access the web interface".
Functions of the web interface
The web interface is a web server running on the SBC that can be operated using a standard web browser. It is used to configure settings and to verify that all installed components of the charging infrastructure are functioning correctly.
Home page and general status
The home page of the web interface is the tab General -> Overview. This page displays general information about the status of the charging infrastructure.
Check the status of the charge points
Hover the mouse pointer over the displayed charge points to obtain further information about the condition of an individual charge point.
The rows Hardware and Network access provide information about the hardware status and the connection status between the charging infrastructure and the reev backend.
If the charging infrastructure can reach and log in to the reev backend, the connection status is displayed in green.
Charge point status indicators
The charge points are displayed in different colours depending on their status:
Colour | Status | Meaning |
Green | Status A | Waiting for vehicle (available) |
Yellow | Status B1 | Vehicle connected, waiting for authorisation |
Turquoise | Status B2 | Vehicle connected and authorised |
Blue | Status C2 | Vehicle currently charging |
Grey | Status E | Charge point deactivated or temporarily unavailable |
Red | Status F | Error/defect present |
Black | – | Incorrectly configured, unknown status or device not present |
Retrieve charging infrastructure diagnostics
To view detailed error messages related to the hardware components, navigate to the tab Products -> Diagnostics.
Notify ABL of a fault
If a defect or fault is present, you can contact ABL Support in the following ways:
Create a support ticket via the ABL Support page: https://www.ablmobility.de/de/service/support/
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible cause | Solution |
Web interface cannot be accessed | Laptop network settings are incorrect | Configure IP address and subnet mask as described in the section "Adjust adapter and network settings" |
Web interface cannot be accessed | Laptop is simultaneously connected to another network (e.g. Wi-Fi) | Temporarily disable the Wi-Fi connection |
Web interface cannot be accessed | RJ45 cable not correctly connected | Check the cable connection between the laptop and the SBC |
Connection status to the reev backend is not green | Charging station has no internet connection | Check the LTE stick, LAN cable or network connection of the charging station |

Frequently asked questions
What is the default IP address of the SBC web interface?
The default IP address is http://169.254.1.1:8300/.
Do I always need to adjust the network settings on my laptop?
No. An adjustment is only required if access via the default IP address does not work or if your laptop is simultaneously connected to another network.
Where can I find the RJ45 port on the SBC?
The position of the RJ45 port varies depending on the charging station model (ABL eMH2, ABL eMH3, ABL eMC2, ABL eMC3). Refer to the illustrations in the section "Connect your laptop to the SBC".
What do the colour-coded charge point status indicators mean?
The colours indicate the current condition of the charge point. A complete overview can be found in the section "Charge point status indicators".
