This article explains how to integrate the reev software into an ABL charging station of the eMH2, eMH3, eMC2 and eMC3 model series. The configuration is carried out via the SBC web interface of the charging station.
Supported Models
The following ABL models are covered by this guide:
ABL eMH2
ABL eMH3
ABL eMC2
ABL eMC3
Note: This guide does not apply to the ABL eM4 product series. The eM4 is configured via the ABL Configuration App, which is available as a mobile application for smartphones and tablets. For more information, refer to the ABL eM4 installation guide.
Prerequisites
Before starting the integration, make sure the following prerequisites are met:
reev Onboarding Material
The documents and materials should already be available to the operator (CPO) or the commissioned service provider.
Laptop with a network port (RJ45) to connect to the SBC (Single Board Computer) of the charging station
RJ45 data cable (Ethernet cable)
LTE stick with the supplied SIM card (HUAWEI or ALCATEL, depending on the delivery scope)
Internet Connection
An active internet connection is required to establish the connection to the reev backend. The connection can be established via LTE (using the LTE stick) or via a local area network (LAN).
Step-by-Step Guide
Follow the steps below in order to integrate the reev software into your ABL charging station.
Step 1: Insert the SIM Card into the LTE Stick
Follow these steps to insert the SIM card into the LTE stick:
Remove the cover on the top of the LTE stick.
Insert the SIM card. The cut corner of the SIM card must point to the bottom right.
Replace the cover.
Step 2: Connect the Laptop to the SBC
Connect your laptop to the SBC of the charging station using an RJ45 data cable and open the administration interface. A detailed guide on how to connect to the SBC can be found here.
Step 3: Check Firmware Version and System Time
Make sure the following points are fulfilled before proceeding with the backend configuration:
Note: An incorrect system time can cause issues with the connection to the reev backend.
Step 4.1: Select and Configure the Backend Template
Follow these steps to set up the backend connection:
In the SBC web interface, navigate to Connectivity -> Backend.
Scroll to the bottom of the page.
Select the appropriate template depending on the connection type:
reevLTE – for internet connection via the LTE stick
reevLAN – for internet connection via a local area network
Note: If the internet connection is to be established via a local area network (LAN), the APN access data for the SIM card must be deleted under Connectivity -> Mobile – even if the LAN template has been selected.
Tip: Under Connectivity -> LAN, manual IP addresses can be assigned if needed. Follow the specifications of your IT administrator.
Step 4.2: Manual OCPP Configuration
If you want to configure the backend connection manually, use the following data:
Table
Parameter | Value |
ChargePointID | Manufacturer_SerialNumber (replace all . with _) |
OCPP Mode | OCPP-J 1.6 |
OCPP URL (WebSocket) | wss://ocpp.reev.com |
Step 5: Restart the Charging Station
Restart the charging station so that the configuration is applied. There are two options:
Via the web interface: Navigate to Maintenance -> System and perform a hard reset.
Manually: Switch off the charging station for approximately 15 seconds.
After the restart and a short waiting period, you can check on the overview page of the SBC web interface whether the charging station has successfully connected to the reev backend.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
No connection to the reev backend | System time is incorrect | Update the system time (see Step 3) |
No connection to the reev backend | APN access data still active with LAN connection | Delete APN data under Connectivity -> Mobile |
No connection to the reev backend | Wrong backend template selected | Check the template (reevLTE vs. reevLAN) |
SBC web interface not reachable | Laptop not correctly connected to the SBC | Check the RJ45 connection and IP configuration |
