ABL – Updating the SBC Firmware

This article describes how to perform an SBC software update on ABL controller charging stations.


Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be met before you perform the SBC update:

  • Access to the web interface of the ABL controller charging station (via LAN or WLAN)

  • Login credentials for the "Installer" role

  • Internet connection to download the latest SBC software from the ABL homepage


Downloading the SBC Software

Make sure you update the SBC software to the latest available version.

Follow these steps to download the latest SBC software version:

  1. Go to the ABL homepage.

  2. Navigate to "Service" -> "Software".

  3. Under "Software Controller Charging Stations" -> "Software Update", select the appropriate software version for your ABL controller charging station.

Note: The available software versions differ depending on the model (ABL eMH2, ABL eMH3 or ABL eM4). Make sure you select the correct version for your model.


Installing the SBC Update via the Web Interface

Follow these steps to install the software update on the charging station:

  1. Open the web interface of the ABL charging station in your browser.

  2. Under "Role Switch", switch to the "Installer" role and log in.

  3. Navigate to "Maintenance" -> "System".

  4. In the "Software Update" section, select the previously downloaded file.

  5. Start the update.

Note: The SBC update can take up to 20 minutes. The duration depends on the current software version of the SBC and the number of charge points in your charging group. Do not interrupt the update process.


Verifying the Result

After the update, verify the following points:

  • The charging station is online and connected to the backend.

  • The SBC software version is up to date.

  • All charge points in the charging group are functioning correctly.
