This article describes how to correct an incorrect system time on an ABL charging station.
Identifying the Error
You can identify an incorrect system time by the following error message on the charging station's web interface: "Transport Layer Error – TLS Connection Not Supported"
In this case, the charging station cannot establish a secure connection to the backend because the TLS certificate is evaluated as invalid due to the incorrect system time.
Prerequisites
The following prerequisites must be met before you correct the system time:
Access to the web interface of the ABL controller charging station (via LAN or WLAN)
Login credentials for the "Installer" role
Note: Update the firmware of the controller charging station to the latest version before changing the system time. You can download the latest firmware from the ABL homepage in the Downloads section.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps to manually correct the system time:
Open the web interface of the ABL charging station in your browser.
Under "Role Switch", switch to the "Installer" role and log in.
Navigate to the "Operation" menu item.
Manually adjust the system time to the correct date and time.
Navigate to "Maintenance" -> "System".
Restart the charging station using the "Restart" button.
Verifying the Result
After the restart, verify the following points:
The charging station is online and connected to the backend.
The system date and time are correct.
The error message "Transport Layer Error – TLS Connection Not Supported" is no longer displayed.
Tip: If the charging station remains offline after the correction, check the network connection (LAN/LTE) and make sure the firmware is up to date.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
Error message still appears | Time was not set correctly | Check and correct the system time again |
Charging station does not come online after restart | Network connection interrupted | Check the LAN cable or LTE connection |

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does an incorrect system time cause a TLS error?
TLS certificates have a defined validity period. If the system time is incorrect, the certificate is evaluated as invalid and the connection to the backend is rejected.
Do I need to update the firmware before correcting the time?
Yes. Outdated firmware may cause the time correction not to be applied correctly or may result in further connection issues.
