This article describes how to integrate an ABL eM4 charging station into the reev backend using the ABL Configuration App.
Prerequisites
The following prerequisites must be met before you begin the configuration:
The ABL eM4 charging station is properly installed and powered on.
An LTE stick with SIM card is installed in the charging station.
The ABL Configuration App is installed on your smartphone or tablet (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store).
Wi-Fi is enabled on your mobile device.
The app has the required permissions (location, Wi-Fi, camera).
Note: Creating a charging group (Controller/Extender) and configuring the current limitation are not covered in this article. Refer to the ABL eM4 installation manual for details.
Note: For the ABL eMH2, ABL eMH3, ABL eMC2 and ABL eMC3 model series, a separate configuration guide is available: [LINK]
Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these steps to connect the ABL eM4 charging station to the reev backend.
Connecting to the Charging Station
Open the ABL Configuration App on your smartphone or tablet.
Tap Perform new configuration.
Follow the assistant until you are prompted to scan the type plate.
Scan the type plate of the ABL eM4 charging station.
The app automatically searches for the charging station's Wi-Fi hotspot. Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled and the app has the required permissions.
Configuring Network Settings
Follow the assistant in the app until you reach the network settings.
Select LTE as the backend connection type (when using an LTE stick with SIM card).
Charging Group and Energy Meter
When prompted about the charging group: Select the option that applies to your installation.
When prompted about the external ABL energy meter: Select the option that applies to your installation.
Tip: For more information on configuring charging groups and external meters, refer to the ABL eM4 installation manual.
Performing the Backend Integration
Continue through the assistant until you reach the backend integration.
Select Use template.
Select the reev LTE template.
Note: Only enable load shedding during the technical configuration if it is actually required. Consult a qualified electrician. If configured incorrectly, charging will not work. In this case, load shedding must be deactivated afterwards.
Completing the Configuration
Confirm the configuration. The settings will be transferred to the charging station.
The charging station restarts automatically. This process can take up to 10 minutes.
Follow the instructions in the app during the restart.
Note: Do not close the app or interrupt the process while the configuration is being transferred.
Video Guide
A video guide with the necessary steps to connect the ABL eM4 via LTE can be found here:
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
App cannot find the charging station's Wi-Fi hotspot | Wi-Fi disabled or missing permissions | Enable Wi-Fi and check app permissions (location) |
App cannot find the charging station's Wi-Fi hotspot | Charging station not powered on | Check the power supply of the charging station |
Charging does not work after configuration | Load shedding incorrectly enabled | Deactivate load shedding in the ABL Configuration App |
Charging station does not connect to the reev backend | LTE stick not properly installed or no network coverage | Check the LTE stick is seated correctly and verify mobile network coverage at the location |
Charging station does not restart after configuration | Configuration was not fully transferred | Repeat the configuration process |
