reev EMS | Charging Schedule for Your Drivers

The Charging Schedule feature optimises charging sessions individually for each driver and systematically reduces your electricity costs.

Written by Jana Caven

Within the reev App, the Charging Schedule allows each driver to plan their charging sessions based on a desired target charge level and departure time. This connects driver preferences with cost savings achieved through PV‑optimised charging.

What exactly does the feature enable?

In the reev App, drivers can:

  • Set their desired target charge level

  • Define their planned departure time

Based on these settings, the reev Energy Management System (EMS) creates an individual charging plan.

The system ensures that:

  1. The vehicle is fully charged in time for departure.

  2. Charging sessions, whenever possible, are shifted to hours with available solar energy.

The optimisation happens automatically in the background. During the charging process, this may lead to variations in the charging behaviour (e.g. temporary pauses or reduced charging power). This behaviour is part of the optimisation process.

Reaching the target charge level by the departure time always has the highest priority.

Economic relevance for charging infrastructure operators

When using PV‑optimised charging, this function directly contributes to cost savings.

Dynamic procurement unfolds its full potential when:

  • Real vehicle data (e.g. current charge level) is available

  • Specific departure times are defined

  • Sufficient time flexibility exists

The more precisely drivers enter their charging schedules, the better the EMS can shift loads to low‑price phases or solar hours.

Especially at times of high market volatility (e.g. seasonally driven), time‑controlled management enables additional savings. Without defined target times, cost‑optimised control is only partially possible.

Added value for drivers

This feature addresses key needs from a driver’s perspective:

  • Planning reliability: The vehicle is charged by the desired time.

  • Transparency: The current battery charge level is displayed directly from the vehicle.

  • Flexibility: Target charge level and departure time can be adjusted at any time — even during an active charging session.

Vehicle integration is established via a secure OEM interface (through Smartcar). Only data relevant for optimisation is used, e.g.:

  • Battery capacity

  • Current charge level

  • Target charge level

This feature is available exclusively to the user group ‘Drivers and Vehicles’ at locations with active PV‑optimised charging. It does not apply to ad‑hoc or eRoaming charging sessions.

Please also note: users must be invited via the reev Platform by email to charge via the reev App. You can find more information here.

How you can inform your drivers

Active use of the feature by drivers is essential for achieving optimisation benefits. Employers should therefore inform their drivers clearly and encourage them to use the feature.

Recommended steps:

  • Point out the new feature in the reev App

  • Explain the added value (on‑time charging)

  • Encourage drivers to connect their vehicles

  • Recommend entering realistic departure times

Subject: Set your target charge and departure time with the Charging Schedule in the reev App

Dear company car drivers,

The reev App now offers a feature for intelligent charging planning.
You can set your desired charge level and departure time - ensuring your vehicle is charged on time.

How to use the feature:

  1. Download or update the reev App

  2. Log in within the app

  3. Connect your vehicle (reev AppSettings; have your manufacturer portal credentials ready)

  4. Define your target charge and departure time (can be adjusted at any time)

The more precise your settings, the more efficiently the charging process can be managed. More information on how to set up the Charging Schedule feature can be found here: reev App Features | Charging Schedule
