This guide describes the complete onboarding process for preparing charging stations for use with the reev software.
The process is divided into five phases: Planning · Procurement · Installation · Connectivity · Handover
After completing this process, you will have:
professionally installed and configured the charging station(s) for reev
verified the successful connection to the reev backend
handed over all required reev materials (license keys, reev ready / reev connect set, starter kit) to the customer (CPO / operator)
Planning – Align the use case with the customer
Before installation, the specific use case should be defined together with the customer (CPO / operator). In particular, clarify and confirm:
which hardware will be used (an overview of all charging stations supported and compatible with reev can be found here: Compatible Hardware)
the number of charging points
the available grid connection capacity and possible load limits
the network requirements (LAN, Wi-Fi, or mobile network)
Note: The customer has the option to use the reev Energy Management System (EMS) — either as a static or dynamic EMS, depending on the use case and technical conditions. More information about the reev EMS can be found here: reev Energy Management System (EMS)
Procurement – Acquire the charging station and reev materials
In addition to the charging hardware, additional materials are required to operate the charging stations with the reev platform. Depending on the station type and use case, these include:
reev license keys (per charging point)
reev materials
The required reev materials can be purchased via our sales partners. An overview of all reev sales partners can be found here: Our Electrical Wholesale Partners
Please also coordinate with your electrical wholesaler or your reev contact person to ensure that you obtain the correct reev materials for your specific use case.
Installation & Configuration – Set up the charging station
Install the charging station in accordance with applicable standards, manufacturer specifications, and local regulations. This is followed by the software configuration for operation with reev:
setup of the network connection
configuration of the OCPP connection to reev
setting station-specific configuration parameters
All relevant installation and configuration requirements are provided by reev in the Help Center: Integration & Troubleshooting for Electricians
Connectivity – Check the connection to the reev backend
After installation and configuration, the successful connection to the reev platform must be verified.
The reev eWizard supports electricians with a simple and structured commissioning process, especially when multiple charging stations are set up at one location.
A prerequisite for using the eWizard is that the charging stations are already connected to the reev backend. Within the eWizard, you ensure that:
the charging station(s) can successfully reach the reev backend
all required configuration values have been correctly applied
The eWizard helps identify configuration errors at an early stage and ensures stable commissioning. Optionally, static reev energy management can also be activated via the eWizard.
More information about the eWizard can be found here: reev eWizard
Handover – Completion and transition to the customer (CPO / operator)
After successful installation and confirmed connectivity, hand over the following to the customer:
the reev license keys
the reev materials
relevant hardware and installation documentation
After commissioning, the reev dashboard must be created. This can be done by the customer themselves. A step-by-step guide for creating and activating the dashboard can be found here: Getting started with reev
From this point onward, the operator can independently manage and operate the charging stations via the reev platform.
