This article describes how to activate and configure the static reev Energy Management System (EMS). The static reev EMS ensures that the available electrical capacity at a site is reliably distributed across all connected charging stations.
Note: The procedure described in this article applies to the static load management of the reev EMS. Activation is possible without additional metering hardware and is based on fixed power limits. A dynamic load management setup requires additional hardware components and an extended commissioning process. An installation guide for dynamic load management can be found here.
Activating the Static reev EMS as an Electrician
The static reev EMS is activated via the reev Dashboard during site setup.
As part of this process, the key parameters of the electrical infrastructure are defined and released for operation of the charging stations.
Step 1: Define the Site Power Limit
First, define the maximum available power for the charging infrastructure at the site.
Values can be entered in kilowatts (kW) or amperes (A)
The value must reflect the actual available capacity of the main distribution
This limit represents the upper boundary for all connected charging points
Correct configuration is essential for safe and compliant operation of the charging infrastructure.
Step 2: Review Charging Point and Charging Group Settings
Next, review and configure the connected charging points:
Set the maximum kW limit per charging point
Check and configure phase rotation
Assign charging points to charging groups (if applicable)
Note: Initial kW limits are based on the default values of the respective charging station model and can be adjusted if required.
Step 3: Advanced Settings (optional)
Optionally, additional details of the electrical infrastructure can be configured, such as:
additional main or sub-distribution boards
specific assignment of individual charging stations
activation of phase imbalance prevention to reduce unequal phase loading
These settings allow for an accurate representation of the on-site electrical setup.
Completion and Commissioning
Once the configuration is saved, the static reev EMS becomes active immediately and controls power allocation for all connected charging stations. No separate EMS commissioning step is required.
Subsequent Adjustments
All EMS-related parameters can be adjusted at any time via the reev Dashboard, including:
site power limit
charging group and charging point limits
phase rotation
phase imbalance prevention
All changes take effect immediately.
Notes on Alternative Activation Methods
Customers can also activate the static reev EMS themselves via the reev Dashboard (see the customer article “reev EMS | Activating Energy Management”).
When commissioning charging stations using the reev eWizard, electricians also have the option to activate and configure the static EMS directly at the end of the commissioning process.
