ABL – Adding and Removing Extender Charging Stations in the Product Tree

This article describes how to add or remove Extender charging stations in the product tree via the ABL web interface. This guide applies to the ABL product ranges eMH2, eMH3, eMC2 and eMC3.


Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be met before you begin the configuration:

  • You have access to the ABL web interface (administration interface). You can find instructions on how to connect in the article: Accessing the Administration Interface

  • The Controller charging station is already set up and operational.

  • From the second Extender charging station onwards, bus addressing must have been completed beforehand. Refer to the installation manual from the manufacturer ABL.

Note: This guide does not apply to the ABL eM4 product range. For the ABL eM4, please refer to the separate installation manual from the manufacturer.


Adding Extender Charging Stations to the Product Tree

Opening the Product Tree

  1. In the ABL web interface, click on the tab Products -> Installation. The currently stored product tree configuration is displayed.

Activating Installer Permissions

  1. Click the Role Change button and select Installer to obtain the required access permissions.

Adding an Extender Charging Station

The following steps are required to add an Extender charging station to the product tree:

  1. Click the Add Products button. You will be redirected to the product catalogue.

  2. Use the search bar on the left side and enter the model number of the Extender charging station. You can find the model number on the nameplate of the charging station.

  3. All available Extender charging stations with their different revision levels are displayed. Click on the desired model number to select the model.

  4. Adjust the number of Extender charging stations as needed, provided they are the same model. Then click Save to confirm the model and quantity.

Applying the New Configuration

  1. You will be returned to the product tree. Click the Generate New Configuration button to apply the change.

  2. Confirm the new product tree by clicking Execute Reconfiguration.


Removing Extender Charging Stations from the Product Tree

The following steps are required to remove an Extender charging station from the product tree:

  1. In the product tree, click the trash bin icon next to the Extender charging station you want to remove.

  2. Click the Generate New Configuration button to apply the change.

  3. Confirm the new product tree by clicking Execute Reconfiguration.


Restart and Verification

After confirming the reconfiguration, the charging infrastructure restarts automatically. You will be redirected to the home page of the ABL web interface after approximately 3–5 minutes.

Finally, verify that the changes have been applied correctly:

  1. Click on the tab Products -> Installation.

  2. Check that the product tree displays the desired configuration.

Tip: If the change is not visible, reload the page and wait until the restart has fully completed.


Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

Extender charging station not found in the product catalogue

Check the model number on the nameplate. Make sure the correct model number has been entered.

Reconfiguration fails

Ensure that bus addressing has been completed correctly (required from the second Extender charging station onwards).

Web interface does not load after restart

Wait at least 5 minutes and refresh the page. Check the network connection to the Controller charging station.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Extender charging stations can I add at most?

The maximum number depends on the Controller model. For the eMC3 range, up to seven Extender charging stations can be connected to one Controller. Refer to the manufacturer specifications for your specific model.

Do I need to perform bus addressing for each new Extender charging station?

Yes, bus addressing must be performed from the second Extender charging station onwards. Refer to the installation manual from the manufacturer ABL.

Can I combine Controller and Extender charging stations from different product ranges?

No, Controller and Extender must be from the same product range (e.g. eMH2 Controller with eMH2 Extender).
