reev EMS – Connection to external EMS Installer Guide

The reev EMS can be integrated into a higher-level energy management system (external EMS). This external EMS can transmit the current (A) or power (kW/W) value available for the EV infrastrcuture at the grid connection point to the reev EMS via Modbus TCP. The reev EMS receives this value and regulates the connected charging stations accordingly.

Note: A Teltonika router must be installed and available on-site, with a direct LAN connection to the external EMS. It will serve as an IoT gateway by receiving the Modbus registers from the external EMS and securely transmitting the data to the reev EMS backend.

Physical Setup Requirements

  • The external EMS must be on the same network (LAN) as the Teltonika router.

  • If a direct connection to the Teltonika router is intended, the LAN port of the router must be used.

  • If the connection is made via a network switch, the LAN port of the router must be connected to the same switch as the external EMS.

  • The external EMS must be appropriately programmed for Modbus TCP data transmission—configured to send the limit at intervals of at least every 5 seconds—in accordance with the respective manufacturer’s instructions.

Important Notes

  • A separate energy meter is not required in this setup: The reev EMS will dynamically adjust the available power for the EV infrastructure based solely on the reported output of the external EMS.
