Alfen – Troubleshooting & First Steps

Written by Franjo Pranjić

This article describes the first steps for troubleshooting and fault analysis on Alfen charging stations.

Note: Work on electrical equipment may only be carried out by trained specialist personnel.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be met before starting the fault analysis:

  • You have access to the ACE Service Installer.

  • You have the login credentials for the ACE Service Installer (see guide here).

  • The charging station password and recovery key are available in the documentation supplied with the charging station.

Note: The charging station password and recovery key are found exclusively in the documentation supplied with the charging station. reev does not have access to this information.

Recommended Steps Before Fault Analysis

The following steps must be carried out before every fault analysis:

  1. Check the current firmware version of the charging station using the ACE Service Installer.

  2. Perform a firmware update if a newer version is available.

  3. Observe whether the fault has been resolved afterwards.

Tip: We generally recommend using the ACE Service Installer for configuration changes and fault analysis. Configuration via the MyEve Installer App is also possible but is not covered in this article. For questions about the MyEve Installer App, contact the manufacturer Alfen directly.

Inserting the SIM Card

The SIM card module is optional depending on the model variant. First check whether your charging station has a SIM module installed.

The exact slot location and the procedure for inserting or replacing the SIM card can be found in the installation manual of your charging station. The position of the SIM card slot is listed in the connection overview of the installation manual.

Charging Station Not Found in the ACE Service Installer

For the ACE Service Installer to detect the charging station, the end device and the charging station must be on the same network.

The following steps are required for troubleshooting:

  1. Check whether your laptop and the charging station are on the same network.

  2. Check the network connection of both the laptop and the charging station.

  3. Check the Ethernet cable and any network switches for defects.

Note: If the charging stations are still not found in the ACE Service Installer despite a correct network connection, contact the manufacturer Alfen support directly. reev is unable to provide further assistance in this case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I configure the charging station without the ACE Service Installer?

Yes, configuration is also possible via the MyEve Installer App. However, this article covers only the configuration using the ACE Service Installer. For questions about the MyEve Installer App, contact the manufacturer Alfen.

Where can I find the charging station password and recovery key?

This information is found exclusively in the documentation supplied with the charging station. reev does not have access to this data.

Do I need to perform a firmware update before every fault analysis?

Yes, we recommend checking the firmware version and performing an update before every fault analysis. Many faults can already be resolved this way.
