The reev Companion provides electricians with tools to analyze and troubleshoot issues on charging stations connected to the reev backend. When a fault occurs, electricians can review detailed information about the issue, access structured troubleshooting guidance, and perform remote actions where available.

This article explains how to troubleshoot charging stations using Smart Guidance and the available remote actions in the reev Companion.

Accessing Fault Information

When a charging station or connector reports a fault, the issue can be viewed in the installation overview. To review the details of a fault:

  1. Open the installation overview using your access link.

  2. Select the affected charging station or connector.

  3. Open the fault details page.

The fault details page displays technical information about the issue, including:

  • Fault category (e.g., hardware, software, connectivity) – available only for selected faults that include Smart Guidance.

  • Fault severity

  • OCPP error code

  • Manufacturer‑specific error code and additional info, if available

This information helps identify the nature of the issue before taking further action.

Using Smart Guidance

For selected faults, the reev Companion provides Smart Guidance to support structured troubleshooting. Smart Guidance includes:

  • A short description of the detected problem

  • A recommended solution

  • Detailed step‑by‑step instructions to resolve the issue

These instructions are based on common fault scenarios and manufacturer‑specific information. They help electricians quickly understand the issue and determine the appropriate corrective action.

Performing Remote Actions

In some cases, troubleshooting actions can be performed directly through the reev Companion. Available actions include:

  • Refresh status – Updates the current status of the charging station or connector.

  • Restart charging station – Restarts the charging station to resolve potential temporary issues.

After performing an action, the system updates the station status so electricians can immediately check whether the issue has been resolved.

Troubleshooting Workflow

A typical troubleshooting process in the reev Companion may include the following steps:

  1. Open the installation overview.

  2. Identify the affected station or connector.

  3. Review the fault details and error codes.

  4. Follow the Smart Guidance instructions (if available).

  5. Perform remote actions if applicable.

  6. Verify the updated station status.

Using Smart Guidance and remote troubleshooting actions, the reev Companion helps electricians analyze faults, apply recommended solutions, and verify the operational status of charging stations efficiently.
