This article describes how to activate the Autocharge function for Mennekes charging stations in combination with the reev backend.
Note: Please check with the manufacturer beforehand whether the respective charging station model supports the AutoCharge function. Furthermore, vehicle-side support depends on technical requirements and should be clarified with the vehicle manufacturer.
Prerequisites
Before starting the configuration, please ensure that the following requirements are met:
The Mennekes charging station is installed and operational
The charging station is successfully connected to the reev backend (OCPP enabled)
Access to the Mennekes WebPortal (admin access)
Access to the reev dashboard
The vehicle must be able to transmit its MAC address (EVCCID) to the backend
Step-by-step: Activating Autocharge for the first time
1. Configure Autocharge in the Mennekes WebPortal
Log in to the Mennekes WebPortal.
Navigate to: Authorization → HLC 15118
Set the following parameters:
Autocharge: On
15118 Configuration: On (No PlugNCharge)
OCPP 1.6 extension for 15118 certificate installation: Ebee
EVCCID or EV’s MAC address prefix for OCPP authorization: EV
Save the changes.
Restart the charging station to ensure the configuration becomes effective.
2. Connect the vehicle for the first time
Plug the vehicle into the charging station.
Wait a short moment.
The charging station will now read the vehicle data (EVCCID / MAC address) and transmit it to the reev backend.
3. Approve the vehicle in the reev dashboard
Open the reev dashboard.
Navigate to: Users → Charging cards
In the “To be approved” section, a new entry will appear:
The entry starts with the configured EV prefix
This entry represents the connected vehicle
Open the entry and approve it.
Complete the required information, for example:
Name
User group
Additional internal assignments
4. Use Autocharge
Once the entry has been approved in the reev dashboard, the setup is complete:
The vehicle is now linked to the Mennekes charging station
Autocharge is active
For future charging sessions, charging will start automatically after plugging in
An RFID card or app authorization is no longer required (depending on the configuration)
Troubleshooting
If the vehicle does not appear in the reev dashboard:
Check the ISO 15118 and Autocharge settings in the Mennekes WebPortal
Ensure that the charging station is online
Verify the OCPP connection to the reev backend
Restart the charging station
