This article provides an overview about the features and functionalities of the reev EMS - reev´s cloud-based Energy Management System - and highlights frequently asked questions about its use cases and activation process.
How it work´s
The reev EMS - reev´s cloud-based Energy Management System - makes it possible to distribute the available power to the charging points in accordance with demand. This function avoids consumption spikes during everyday operation and uses the available power in a cost-effective way.
No complex cabling: the reev EMS is cloud-based, requiring minimal hardware. This saves you money and makes installation a breeze.
Intelligent distribution over several charging groups
Optimal distribution of the capacity to an unlimited number of charging groups. Mapping of complex topologies with several sub-distributions (multi-fuse setup)
dynamic Loadmanagement: calculation of a dynamic limit depending on the building load
Intelligent re-distribution of non-requested load (e.g. after the end of a charging procedure)
Additional features of the reev EMS
Cloud-based Real-Time Monitoring:
fully integrated into your reev Platform (one Platform for chargepoint- and load management)
monitor in real time what´s happening at your charging infrastructure. The data is updated every 5 seconds
Prioritisation of charge points
select charge points to provide maximum power, and priority vehicles (e.g. delivery vans or field service vehicles) are charged as quickly as possible
Easily scalable:
combine different hardware models and add new charge points via one click in our dashboard
PV-Integration:
Activate surplus PV charging and make the most of your self-generated electricity – for sustainable and cost-effective charging.
Steps to activate the reev EMS
The reev EMS is used to optimise the usage of your electrical infrastructure. The Energy Management System enhances the possibilities to monitor and control your EV-charging infrastructure.
The features of the reev EMS can be activated and deactivated anytime, directly via the reev Platform. The cloud-based solution offers a quick and easy setup, without the need for complex additional cabling.*
*For dynamic load management, the pre-configured reev EMS Gateway has to be purchased and installed at the location.
FAQ
How does a cloud-based Energy Management System ensure a save operational usage?
reev´s load management follows the specifications of OCPP 1.6J. Via Smart-Charging-Profiles, pre-set limits can be guaranteed, even without a local controller. The load management uses Fallback-Metrics to ensure operational stability during offline-times. These metrics limit the charging capacity to a predefined low limit (or 0 Ampere), until the connection is restored. Fallback-Metrics do not have time restrictions and will make sure, that the safety of your installation is upheld, even in cases of prolonged offline periods.
What is the difference between static and dynamic load management?
Static load management (SLM) refers to a fixed approach to distributing the electrical load for charging EVs, where the maximum power allocation is predetermined (i.e., static limit) and does not change in real-time.
Dynamic load management involves actively adjusting the distribution of electrical load for EV charging in real-time based on current grid conditions and demand.
How can I activate the features of the reev EMS?
The reev EMS is available within the reev Software Compact & Pro. After configuration has been successful via entering the required informationen int the reev Energy Management Section, the reev EMS will be available in your platform instantly.
What kind of EV-charging infrastructure is most suitable for a Energy Management System?
The cloud-based solution of the reev EMS makes it suitable for every kind of EV-charging infrastructure. Without the necessity of a local controller, initial setup costs are minimal. The reev Balancer is specifically designed, to suit EV-charging infrastructure of all sizes.
Which Hardware-Vendors are compatible with the reev EMS?
The reev EMS is compatible with a wide array of hardware models from multiple Hardware vendors - with new models and vendors being added continuously. For a detailed overview of all current compatible hardware, please check out: https://reev.com/en/products-services/reev-energy-management/
